Awards

Mr. Murphy has a long standing relationship with award wining projects. Beginning with course work at Purdue University and continuing through previous employers. From 1994 through to the current year there has hardly been a year when at least one of Mr. Murphy’s projects hasn’t been recognized.

2012 – Trinity Avenue Farm Design Competition – City of Atlanta – Semi-Finalist: In 2012 Sean Murphy lead a team of professionals including Daron “Farmer D” Joffe, Greg Ramsey and local Architect Lew Oliver to enter a competition to design an urban farm in  downtown Atlanta. The team’s entry was selected from over 20 other professional designs as a semi-finalist.

2012 - SANY America Named 2012 Global Impact Awards Finalist: Mr. Murphy designed the landscape for this $60 million dollar Headquarters building in Peachtree City, Georgia.

2011 Voice of the People Awards for Excellence in Parks – Suwanee, Georgia: Sean Murphy led the design efforts for one of Suwanee’s newest and most beloved parks, White Street Park and Harvest Farm which helped the City to be recognized nationally for overall excellence in parks.

2008 – Atlanta Regional Commission – 2008 Development of Excellence, Serenbe Community: Sean Murphy is the community Landscape Architect and has been involved in nearly every aspect of the project. His design work includes streetscapes, common areas, community parks, trails and the landscape plans for nearly every house in Phase 1, the Selbourne Community.

2008 – Cottage Living Magazine – Top 10 Community in the Nation – Serenbe Community: (See above)

2006 Earth Craft House – Development of the Year – Serenbe Community, Georgia: (See above)

2005 Atlanta Home Builders Association – Gold Award for Serenbe’s Marketing Campaign: Sean Murphy’s participation included custom renderings, and location maps in water color and mixed media.

2004 South Eastern Flower Show – Hugh Dargan Assoc., Inc. Landscape Architect’s Trophy: Garden designed and installed by Sean Murphy and his staff.

2004 South Eastern Flower Show – Georgia Commercial Flower Growers Association Trophy: Garden designed and installed by Sean Murphy and his staff.

2004 Coastal Living ‘Idea House’ – Coastal Living Magazine: Sean was asked by ‘Bayfair Homes’ to design and manage the installation of landscaping for the annual Coastal Living Idea House to be constructed in Apollo Beach Florida. Featured in Oct/Nov Issue of Coastal Living Magazine.

2003 South Eastern Flower Show – Mayors Trophy – The Peoples Choice Award for Best Garden of the Show: Garden designed and installed by Sean Murphy and his staff.

2002 American Concrete Institute – Georgia 2002 – Post Biltmore Hardscape, Atlanta, Georgia – 1stPlace – Hardscapes Category: Sean Murphy was the sole designer and project manager responsible for complete design, detailing, and installation of all exterior site features, hardscapes, furnishings, etc.

2002 ULI – Atlanta 2002 – Avenue East Cobb, Atlanta, Georgia – Project of the year: Sean Murphy was the lead designer for the hardscapes and plaza’s of the project. He created custom details that were used for the trend setting and heavily copied concept retail center.

2002 Atlanta Magazine – Avenue East Cobb, Atlanta, Georgia – Best Mall Alternative Outside I-285: (See above)

2002 ALCA – Georgia – Interstate North, Atlanta, Georgia – Grand Award for Landscape Renovation: Sean Murphy was the senior designer for competition to win the design build work for a multi-million dollar renovation to a large business park in Atlanta. The completed work was awarded by ALCA the following year.

2002 -ALCA – Georgia – Internet Security Systems, Atlanta, Georgia – Merit Award for Design/Build Installation: Sean Murphy was the Senior Project Landscape Architect responsible for concepts, design and detailing of entire project.

2001 American Concrete Institute – Georgia – Nortel Hardscape, Alpharetta, Georgia – Outstanding Achievement Award – Hardscape Category: Sean Murphy was responsible for designing and detailing of most exterior site features including plantings, hardscapes, pavilions, fountains, furnishings, etc.

2001 American Concrete Institute – Georgia – River’s Call at Wildwood, Atlanta, Georgia – Award of Excellence – Architectural Paving Category: Sean Murphy was responsible for master planning, pocket park design, entrance design and detailing of exterior site features and landscape design.

2000 Post University Scholarship – Atlanta, Georgia: Sean Murphy was selected by a group of his peers and senior management to participate in a corporate mini-MBA program.

2000 MALTA-Atlanta – Avenue East Cobb, Atlanta, Georgia – Grand Award – Commercial Installation Over $200,000: Sean Murphy was the Project Landscape Architect responsible for detailing of exterior site and hardscape features, hardscapes, furnishings, etc.

1999 American Concrete Institute-Georgia – TSYS (Total Systems) Riverfront Campus, Columbus, Georgia – Award of Excellence – Corporate Headquarters: Sean Murphy was a Project Landscape Architect responsible for detailing of exterior site and hardscape features, fountains, furnishings, etc.

1998 MALTA-Georgia – Northpark 400, Atlanta, Georgia – Grand Award – Commercial Installation over $200,000: Sean Murphy was a Project Landscape Architect responsible for design of site features and presentation graphics.

1998 American Concrete Institute-Georgia – Glenridge Highland I, Atlanta, Georgia – Award of Excellence – Paving category: Sean Murphy was the Project Landscape Architect responsible for designing of exterior site features including landscaping, hardscape features, fountains, furnishings, etc.

1997 American Concrete Institute-Georgia 1997 – East West Connector Bridges, Smyrna, Georgia – 1st Place – Public Works: Sean Murphy was a Project Landscape Architect responsible for concepts for detailing of exterior hardscape features, bridge facades, walls, etc.

1996 US Army Corps of Engineers – Special Letter of Commendation for Excellence in Wetland Delineation – Georgia: Sean Murphy and associates received an extremely rare commendation letter from regional USACE office head commending their work in delineating wetlands on a large piece of public property.

1995 American Society of Landscape Architects – National – Mining For the Future, Indianapolis, Indiana – Merit Award: Sean Murphy teamed with a classmate to prepare and present a Corporate sponsored student project (see below NSSGA) to the ASLA.

1994 Designer of the Year – Purdue University – Landscape Architecture Program: Sean Murphy awarded the inaugural annual award given to one graduating senior in the Landscape Architecture Program at Purdue University.

1994 National Stone Sand and Gravel Association – 1st Place Mined Land Reclamation Project: Sean Murphy teamed with a classmate to complete in a national student competition involving a real world reclamation project.

1992 Heriott Watt – Edinburgh College of Art – Student Exchange Award: Sean Murphy was competitively selected from a group of his peers to represent Purdue University in a one year exchange with the Edinburgh College of Art.

1991 Schuder Family Scholarship for Graphic excellence – Purdue University: Sean Murphy was awarded the annual graphic excellence scholarship given to a 1st year student moving into the 2nd year and meeting other minimum requirements.
